The following article gives the light on the Human Rights.

  1. What is Human Rights?

Every person has decorum and moral values related to the society. One of the ways that we recognise the fundamental worth of every person is by acknowledging and respecting their human right. Human rights are a set of principles concerned with equality and fairness. They recorgnise our freedom to make choices about our lives and develop our human potential. They are about living a life free from fear, harassment or discrimination.

Human rights can broadly be defined as several basic rights that people from around the world have agreed are essential. These include the Right to Life, the right to a fair trial, freedom from torture and other cruel and inhuman treatment, freedom of speech, ffreedom of religion, and the right to health, education and an adequate standard of living.

These human right are the same for all people everywhere- men and woman, young and old, rich and poor, regardless of our background, where we live, what we think or what we beleive. This is what makes human rights 'Universal'.

  • "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."(1)

2. Why are human rights important?

Values of tolerance, equality and respect can help friction in the society. Putting human rights ideas into practice can helps us create the kind of society we want to live in. In the recent decades, there has been a tremendous growth in how we think about and apply human ideas. This has had many positive results - knowledge about human rights can empower individual and offer solution for specific problems. Human rights are an important part of how people interact with others at all level in society - in the family, the community, schools, workplace, in politics and in international relations. It is vital therefore that people everywhere should strive to understand what human rights are, it is easier for them to promote justice and well-being of society.

3. What are the provisions of constitution related to Human rights in India?

  • Articles 14 to 18 of the constitution guarantee the right to Equality to every citizen of India.
  • Article 19 deals with freedom of speech and expression .
  • Article 21 provides Right to life and liberty.(2)

Article 14 of the constitution explicity lays down that "The state shalll not deny to any person equality before law or the equal protection of laws within the territory of india."

Article 21 is that heart and soul of our constitution. It guarantee that no person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by law.

4. National Human Rights Commission (3)

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India was established in 1993. The statue under which it is established is the protection of human rights act (PHRA),1993. The act provide for the established of state human Rights commission.

6. Origin

The Declaration was adopted by the UN General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 during its 183rd plenary meeting.Drafted by a UN committee chaired by Eleanor Roosevelt, it was accepted by the General assembly as Resolution 217 during its third session on 10 December 1948 at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris, France.

7. Conclusion

Human Rights are the basic rights which form the essential part of his/her development as human being. Human Right is play a vital role in present day because all human being want thier own dignity and no one can discriminate or misbehaviour lower class people by the upper class or the superior, politician, or those who not do thier legal duty rightly, mispower their rights. Human rights are freedoms that all human beings are entitled to enjoy. They include civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights. It s about the equality and fairness for everyone and it ensures that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
